Who is Thom Elysian?
Thom Elysian is a German singer-songwriter, producer and performer from Berlin-Spandau. The music moves between synth-pop, electropop and honest German pop — shaped by the energy and diversity of Berlin, but with a perspective that reaches far beyond the city limits. Every song tells its own story: personal, urban, and always with a spark of hope.
The project has been active since 2024 and by April 2026 has built a discography of 18 officially released songs — including singles like Spandau, Ich brauche keinen Vormund, Blaue Herzen and Kurfürstendamm. The music is produced self-sufficiently, recorded in the artist's own studio and distributed via DistroKid to more than 25 streaming platforms worldwide.
The Musical Vision
At a time when many German artists switch to English for broader reach, Thom Elysian consciously sticks to German lyrics. This is not a nostalgic statement but a creative decision: the native language allows more precise nuances, more honest imagery and a more direct connection with listeners in the German-speaking world. For international listeners, it offers a window into contemporary German songwriting — authentic rather than translated.
Musically, the sound combines elements from electronic pop, synth-wave and singer-songwriter tradition. Production swings between acoustic roots (guitar, piano) and modern textures (synthesizers, programmed beats). Origin: Berlin-Spandau
Spandau shapes the music. This western Berlin district with its Citadel, the Havel river and its own distinct identity — half metropolis, half suburb — appears as a recurring motif. From Spandau (a love letter to the neighborhood) through Ich liebe Berlin (a hymn to the whole city) to Kurfürstendamm (the glamorous boulevard in West Berlin), Berlin runs through the work like a red thread.
Songs like U-Bahn Fahrt, Straßen von Berlin and Rotes Kabel, Schwarzes Kabel capture the feel of the city — chaotic, creative, honest. If you know Berlin, you recognize the scenes. If you don't, you get a musical tour.
